The restoration and rehabilitation work carried out by the "Mohammad Zidan Association for Development" in Old Sidon, particularly in the neighborhoods of Najjarin, Hayakiyin, and Mar Nicolas, has made noticeable progress since the announcement of the initiative launched by the "Association" on June 1, 2024. This initiative targets the mentioned neighborhoods with the goal of preserving the traditional character of the old houses and improving the quality of life for their residents.

Continuing the restoration and rehabilitation efforts, a working team from the "Association," led by its President, Dr. Engineer Hatem Badi’, and Executive Director, Ms. Farah Zidan, conducted an inspection tour of seven houses included in the project. It was found that restoration work had been fully completed on five houses belonging to the Zaknun, Sha’fati, Rifa’i, Shamseddine families, and the Al Ashqar family house, all located in the Najjarin neighborhood.

During the tour, the homeowners expressed their deep gratitude to the "Mohammad Zidan Association for Development," and showed their heartfelt happiness with the positive changes their homes had undergone, reflecting the Association’s keen interest in preserving architectural heritage and providing a comfortable and safe living environment for the residents.

The team also inspected the two houses where restoration and rehabilitation work is still ongoing, belonging to the Miyasi and Dagher families. Efforts continue there to complete the restoration and rehabilitation with full professionalism, maintaining their traditional character while focusing on addressing the technical challenges faced by each house individually, such as water leakage issues and roof repairs.

It is worth noting that, as part of preparing for the next phase, after completing the restoration work on the remaining two houses, the technical team at the "Association" is scheduled to prepare a comprehensive study to identify other homes requiring restoration and rehabilitation interventions. This study will be presented to the Association’s patron, Mr. Mohammad Zidan, and its President, Dr. Hatem Badi’, to set priorities and make appropriate decisions regarding the next steps.
