"Mohammed Zeidan Development Association" in Sidon announced the completion of the cleaning, sweeping, and waste collection project from the streets, neighborhoods, and alleys of Old Sidon, and the cessation of all related activities by the end of the current month, April 2024. The municipality of Sidon was officially notified of this through a letter from the association, registered at the Sidon municipality under number 2024/966 dated April 15, 2024 (attached is a copy of the registration letter).

The association had previously issued a statement indicating that it had launched and initiated a cleanliness project in Old Sidon from all aspects in May of the previous year, 2023, in light of the worsening waste crisis that had plagued Sidon during the past year, and the failure of officials to find temporary or sustainable solutions. Thus, Mohammed Zeidan Association announced at that time the launch of this project, dedicated to the old city, out of a sense of responsibility towards its residents, both locals and inhabitants, and due to its significant cultural, architectural, and historical value.

The statement added: "Considering that environmental conditions have relatively improved in the city, where a specialized company is now responsible for waste collection, Mohammed Zeidan Development Association in Sidon has found that the initiative it launched, driven by its sense of responsibility, has achieved its desired goal within the required timeframe, and there is no longer an urgent need to continue cleanliness activities in the old city."

The statement continued: "Based on the above, the teams of the association will cease executing their tasks in the Old Sidon cleaning project by the end of the current month, April."

In conclusion, the president of the association, its administrative body, and those involved expressed their best wishes for success to everyone, hoping for continuous cooperation from the residents and the municipality of Sidon. They also emphasized the association's permanent readiness to propose any future initiatives that would serve the interests of the old city and its people.

It's worth noting that the Mohammed Zeidan Development Association in Sidon continues to implement projects aligned with its objectives, focusing on the restoration, rehabilitation, and maintenance of buildings and neighborhoods in the old city of Sidon, aiming to preserve its rich cultural and architectural heritage.
