Visitors to the "New Sidon Cemetery" in the Sirob area of Sidon have long noticed the accumulation of weeds, wild trees, and debris covering graves, forming a thick layer of vegetation.

This issue has been a concern for residents, especially those visiting the graves of family members during holidays and special occasions, as reaching burial sites has become increasingly difficult due to the overgrown vegetation obstructing pathways.

Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Salim Jalal Al-Din was informed of the matter and pledged to address it.

The "Mohammed Zeidan Association for Development in Sidon" has prioritized cleaning the New Sidon Cemetery in Sirob, recognizing its importance for the city's residents. Earlier this year, before Eid al-Fitr, the association successfully cleared the old Sidon Cemetery in "Shakriya" of weeds and wild trees, ensuring clean and maintained pathways between graves. This effort was widely appreciated by the community.

Currently, a large team of workers assigned by the association is engaged in thoroughly cleaning the cemetery in Sirob, removing all debris and overhanging branches from trees covering graves, alongside necessary maintenance work. This initiative has been ongoing for over a month, carried out discreetly without media attention.

The cleaning project is scheduled for completion before Eid al-Adha, as part of the association's ongoing commitment to serving the city and its people. This initiative is not the first, nor will it be the last, with future projects to be announced in due time.

The association began the cemetery cleaning after securing approval from Mufti Sheikh Salim Sosan, who authorized the effort and welcomed the humanitarian initiative. He expressed appreciation for the association’s work and praised its commitment to the community.

The cleaning teams are working across the cemetery, which spans approximately 80 dunams. Residents visiting the graves of their loved ones can now witness ongoing cleaning efforts and completed sections, marking the first significant maintenance of the site in many years.
